Don’t buy networking equipment beyond your data plan’s specifications

There’s a sea of high-end routers and network adapters, capable of absurdly fast connection speeds for dozens of devices at once. The signals traverse much farther than your average router and they’re loaded with advanced customization options.

None of which makes any difference if your ISP’s data plan can’t take advantage of it.

If you have a data connection that reaches up to 100 Mbps speeds from your ISP, then you won’t see any added benefit from a router that features up to 1 Gbps transfer rates. No matter what, you’ll only be able to reach your ISP’s data cap.

Don’t buy networking equipment with specs you can’t take advantage of. Know what your data plan allows and buy accordingly.
