2011 Threat Report

In 2011, we witnessed high profile battles against organized Crimeware come to close with the take-downs of the large scale DNS-Changer, Rustock, and Coreflood Botnets, and the arrest of the co-founder of ChronoPay, a Russian online payment processor which processed the sales of leading FakeAV affiliate programs.

Each of these take-downs had a direct impact on the volume of Malware in the wild and mark significant successes against cybercrime for the law enforcement and digital security industry.

Aiding the fight against Crimeware was the effective use of Cloud security controls. The ability to deploy security logic to the cloud has improved overall protection against Malware.
